Journal Club

Introduction

We hold a regular journal club to discuss recent and important papers in various fields relevant to our research including microfluidics, radiochemistry, automation, molecular imaging tracers, theranostics, etc. In addition we have periodic thematic topics outside of these areas to educate ourselves on broader topics.

Participation

The journal club is organized by the van Dam lab but is open to members of the Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging, and others will be considered upon request. If you are interested in participating and being added to the email reminder list, please contact Alejandra Rios or Prof. Michael van Dam.

All attendees are required to participate on a regular basis.

Format

Two presenters are selected each session and should each plan a ~20 min presentation, including time for questions and discussion. Speakers are asked to be concise and to clearly articulate the contribution of the paper (i.e. what is the specific problem or question that the authors address), and describe the most significant methods and results.

The goals of this journal club are to:

    • Keep members of the lab up-to-date with the latest developments in fields related to our research

    • Discuss how emerging technologies may improve and impact our field

    • Give students and postdocs the opportunity to practice (and get feedback on) giving short presentations and critically analyzing papers

Schedule

The Journal Club currently meets every Friday from 10:45am to 11:30am in CNSI 5433 (please keep an eye on group emails for any location changes).

A list of upcoming papers can be found here.
